Registration for the Kent test for children due to start secondary school in September 2025, it opened on 3 June Monday and closes at midnight on 1 July 2024. This year the test will take place on 12 September Thursday, 2024 for pupils in Kent primary schools and on the weekend 14 September Saturday, 2024 for other pupils.
Registration happens in June, the Kent Test happens in September just as children start their last year in primary school. If your child wants to take the Kent Test you will need to register them while they’re still in year 5.
Parents begin the preparation when their child is 3 or 4 years but the majority of children start their preparation after 5 years. By the development you will have a better idea of their academic capabilities and exceptionally bright children may only need a few weeks for the preparation for the Kent Test.
Who is eligible for Kent Test Registration 2024?
There are eligibility criteria for the Kent Test Registration:
- Those Children who are currently in 5 years, born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014 can take the Kent Test in 2024.
- Students who will be in their last year of primary school at the time of the test.
- If your child is outside this age range but is expected to transfer to secondary school in September 2025.
- It is mostly for students who go to school in Kent but some children from outside the country may also be able to get it.
- You can register your child for this test but only if you intend to apply for a place at the Kent Grammar school.

Things that you keep in your mind before Kent Test Registration 2024
Before the registration of Kent Test you have to consider these things:
- The Kent Test is only valid for Kent Grammar Schools.
- Being a grammar assessed in Kent Test does not guarantee your child a place in the Kent Grammar School.
- Make sure you know all the information about where the Kent Grammar school is and what the admission processes are for the school in our Kent School Search.
- Many children will find the test difficult, so Grammar School in Kent provides for children in about the top 25 % of the ability range.
- You may want to discuss your child’s academic achievement at their primary school before you decide to register them for the Kent Test.
- If your child has a disability or a special educational need which will affect their access to testing you will need to discuss this with their primary school.
- Because the online registration form asks you to confirm that you have discussed a request for access arrangement with your child’s school.
- Standardisation is a statistical process which compares your child’s performance with the average performance of the other children in each test.
- Your request will not be accepted after 12 July 2024.
How to Register for the Kent Test 2024
There are steps to register for the Kent Test 2024.
- You can register for the Kent Test in early summer.
- You will need to fill out an online application on the Kent County Council website.
- Go to the official website of the Kent Test.
- Create an online account for yourself as a parent or guardian.
- Then add your children’s details for the registration process.
- Then submit your registration.
- After completing all these processes you will receive a confirmation email.
- If you receive an email when you register your Kent Test result will be emailed to your email address used to register your child.
- Make sure to give correct information and register by the deadline if you want your child to take the test.
- If you do not get this email then maybe your registration has not been completed correctly.
- You can ask a child’s primary school for their scores the day after the results go out.
