The NSP offers various services from scholarship application to sanction of scholarships at one single platform, making the whole application process convenient for parents/ guardians and students to avail of the scholarship benefits.  

The OTR NSP registration is mandatory to apply for any scholarship on the portal. The OTR registration allows students to register on the NSP portal for a time, eliminating the need for registration for each academic year. It is a unique 14-digit number issued to the students based on their Aadhar and Aadhar Enrollment ID. 

The unique ID is generated once and it remains valid throughout the academic career of the student, providing a stable and consistent identifier to access the NSP services.

Candidates can check their eligibility to register for the NSP Scholarship portal based on the following criteria:

  • You must be an Indian Nationals/citizen.
  • You must be enrolled in a recognized educational institution located in India.
  • You must meet the scholarship requirements to apply for scholarship programs on NSP.
  • Your family income should exceed the income threshold decided for the various scholarships.
  • You must have passed the matriculation, Senior secondary examination, or other qualifying examinations required for a scholarship with at least 50% marks or equivalent grades from recognized institutions.

Candidates who wish to apply for the academic year 2024-25 scholarship through the National Scholarship Portal should follow the below OTR Registration guidelines:

  • The students first need to create their OTR with the following documents:
  • Valid mobile number linked with Aadhar
  • NPCI seeding status
  • Aadhar number or Enrollment ID
  • The OTR registration will provide a unique ID that will be your login credentials at the portal to apply for scholarships. 
  • After the OTR, the candidates will have the assigned Reference number that will be sent to you via SMS. The reference number will help you log in to the Face Auth APP to complete the face authentication process and e-KYC to make your OTR valid. 
  • If your Aadhar information changes, you must update your e-KYC and face authentication again to update your details on the portal. 

Steps to NSP OTR Registration 2024

Candidates who wish to complete their NSP OTR registration can follow the below steps:

  • Go to the official NSP website at
  • Navigate to Get your OTR and click on Apply now.
  • Next, click on Registration and carefully read the instructions. 
  • Next, click the “I Agree” boxes and move to the next page, where you have to enter your registered mobile number. 
  • Complete the OTP verification and enter the captcha. 
  • Now, complete the e-KYC by entering the required information.
  • Finally, finish the last stage of the OTR registration and you will receive the reference number via SMS. 

After this candidates have to complete the Face Authentication through the following steps:

  • Download and install the Face Auth App from the Google Play Store at
  • Log in through your reference number and mobile number on the app.
  • Next, Complete the OTP verification on the Face RD mobile app
  • Next, complete the face authentication by using the “eKYC with FaceAuth” option in the mobile app.
  • Next, proceed for Face authentication, and UIDAI Aadhar FAce RD service will be activated for the face authentication, 
  • After the successful face-authentication, your unique OTR 14-digit number will be generated that you can use to apply for the scholarship on the portal.

Documents Required for the NSP Scholarship Application

Candidates would need the following documents for NSP Scholarship registration:

  • Aadhar card
  • If not Aadhar card, Enrollment ID
  • DOB
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Disability certificate (if applicable)
  • Disability certificate (if applicable) 
  • Previous qualifying examinations’ mark sheet
  • Student’s bank account number and IFSC code
  • Passport size photograph

The students who wish to apply for the 2024-25 scholarships will have to wait as the authorities have yet to open the application window for the scholarship application.
